Advocate

Focus: Fighting for resources, public representation, supporting students and teachers.

​

  • I continue to be a strong advocate for our Division and for every student.

  • Building meaningful partnerships with all levels of government to ensure our Division receives the funding and support to remain a leader in Catholic education in the province.

  • Successful advocacy for new infrastructure and spaces:

    • School Expansion - Holy Trinity High School 

    • New School - Corpus Christi K-9

    • New School - Father Michael Mireau K-9

    • New School - Divine Mercy K-6

    • New School Approved - St. Genevieve in West Laurel K-9 

    • New School  Approved - High School in The Meadows 

    • Two more new schools on the capital plan: Meltwater K-9 and Mattison K-9

    • Advocate for new  student spaces - modulars at overcrowded schools

    • School Consolidations -replacing aging buildings with one modern school for learning

  • Teacher supports for the new Government Curriculum: Supported teachers with division resources:

    • PD supports, Pace Guides, Summer Summits, Tool Kits, Universal Design for Learning supports.

  • Trades & Career Education: Supported Career and Bridging Fairs to connect students to future pathways.

  • Fiscal Responsibility:

    • Chose not to run a by-election after a Trustee resigned, reallocating the money into the classroom.

    • Served as honorary Trustee for three schools without accepting compensation.

    • Moved into the new Lumen Christi building with efficiency in mind.

    • Active member of the Audit and Finance Committee to ensure compliance with Alberta regulations.

  • Provincial-Level Advocacy:

    • Active participant in ASBA and ACSTA, shaping provincial policy and advocacy.

    • Supported Board goals:

      • Actualize Good Governance

      • Develop Relationships to Advance Advocacy

      • Explore Assurance and Optimal Learning

  • Recognition:

    • Division recognized as a Top 80 Employer since 2016 (9 consecutive years).
