World Teachers' Day
World Teachers' Day

Today, I want to recognize and thank our Edmonton Catholic School teachers for their faith-filled service to students and families. Teaching in a Catholic school is more than a career. It is a vocation rooted in care, compassion, and the belief that every child is created in the image of God.

This year, World Teachers’ Day comes during a difficult time in education across Alberta. The current labour situation has reminded many of us how deeply teachers care about their students and how much they give every day in the classroom. It has also shown how important strong and steady governance is in times of uncertainty.

As a Trustee, I believe in listening, engaging respectfully, and keeping students at the center of every decision. Supporting teachers and maintaining stability in our schools must always be priorities. When teachers feel valued and supported, students thrive and our Catholic identity grows stronger in every classroom.

As I seek re-election, I remain committed to transparent governance, collaboration, and decisions that reflect the values of our Catholic community. To every teacher who continues to lead with faith and heart, thank you. You are the foundation of our Catholic schools and an inspiration to us all.

“The pandemic has highlighted how vulnerable and interconnected everyone is.

If we do not take care of one another, starting with the least, with those who are most impacted, including creation, we cannot heal the world.  #SeasonOfCreation”

(Pope Francis, 09/03/21)
