What is the Mill Woods Presidents’ Council?

The Mill Woods Presidents’ Council (MWPC) brings together leaders from local community leagues across Mill Woods and nearby neighborhoods. These community leagues are the heart of their areas, organizing programs, events, and services that help create safe, welcoming, and connected communities for families and residents of all ages.

The MWPC serves as a hub where league presidents and community partners can:

  • Share ideas and resources to strengthen local programs and events.

  • Collaborate on important issues like community safety, recreation, and neighborhood improvements.

  • Advocate for residents by working with elected officials and other decision-makers to address local needs.

  • Build partnerships between neighborhoods, schools, and organizations that support families.

By working together, the MWPC strengthens the voice of Mill Woods and helps ensure our neighborhoods continue to grow and thrive.

A Bit of History:

The Mill Woods area has always had a strong tradition of community involvement. The MWPC was formed to give local leagues a united voice, making it easier to share information and work together on common goals.

Over the years, the council has been a driving force behind many community successes, from creating safe public spaces to advocating for improved services. It has also played a key role in building partnerships with schools, faith communities, and local organizations, ensuring that the diverse voices of Mill Woods are heard and respected.

Why It Matters to Ward 77:

For Ward 77, the MWPC is an invaluable partner. Their work ensures that the needs of families, schools, and neighborhoods are at the forefront of conversations about city planning, safety, and growth.

When community leaders collaborate through the MWPC, we are better equipped to identify priorities, advocate for resources, and celebrate the many successes that make Mill Woods such a vibrant place to live.

How to Get Involved:

If you’re passionate about your neighborhood, there are easy ways to get involved:

  • Join your local community league – Find yours through the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL) website.

  • Volunteer or participate – Whether it’s helping with an event, coaching a youth team, or joining a local initiative, your involvement makes a difference.

Together, we can keep Mill Woods a strong, connected, and thriving community for everyone who calls it home.

“The pandemic has highlighted how vulnerable and interconnected everyone is.

If we do not take care of one another, starting with the least, with those who are most impacted, including creation, we cannot heal the world.  #SeasonOfCreation”
