Support the students, staff and families of the LGBTQ2s community in the ECSD

I am very aware of the concerns of the LGBTQ2s community. In my current role of Edmonton Catholic School Trustee, we have worked towards a policy that protects and supports transgender students. I have been in contact with the Pride Centre and University of Alberta – sexual and gender minority studies department to truly understand the challenges that unfortunately exist today. I support the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Alberta Human Rights Act and more recently Alberta Human Rights Amendment Act 2015, which strengthens the commitment to a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. I believe that making laws and policies that will support and protect people from discrimination will enable everyone to live and learn in a remarkable school district like Edmonton Catholic Schools
